Ray, who is now 30, originates from Liverpool. He is a singer, actor and dancer who first came to our attention back in 2000 playing the role of Antony Murray on Channel 4’s Brookside. At the 2002 Soap Awards, Ray earned himself the following awards, Best Dramatic Performance and Best Storyline, and then went on to play roles in many other TV shows and BBC dramas.
At the age of 17 he turned his attention to his true passion – singing – and entered The X Factor, appearing in the 2006 series reaching the final which peaked with over 12 million viewers. Following the final, Ray was signed to Syco Records releasing his debut album, Doing It My Way which entered the UK album charts at No 1 – going Platinum and selling over 330 000 copies.
The following year, Ray took to West End stage starring in some of the biggest shows such as Grease, Dirty Dancing and Legally Blonde. Over his extensive career he has appeared in many other theatre productions including Peter Pan the Musical, Judy Garland Songbook, Putting on the Ritz, The Wedding Singer and most recently he played the lead role of Don in the musical version of 60s iconic movie Summer Holiday.
Other TV credits include 2009 ITV hit series Dancing On Ice and returning in 2014 for Champion of Champions – Ray was crowned the winner on both occasions.
Ray has returned to Lime Pictures after a 20-year break to star in Channel 4’s soap Hollyoaks, playing the role of Jonny. You can tune in 5 days a week at 6.30pm.
Ray is very excited to be spending the festive season in Chatham as Dick Whittington and hopes to bring along plenty of Christmas cheer and wants to say personally a very Merry Christmas to you all.
Ray is also recording at the world famous Parr Street studio’s in Liverpool working on new material with a 20 piece Orchestra for his eagerly awaited 2nd album which is scheduled for release in late 2019 with Concert dates to follow.
